That is where Concrete Drilling & Sawing Ltd. (CDS) fits in. Established in 1967, we are one of Ontario’s longest-running concrete cutting companies, brought in by ICI general contractors, engineers and project managers to perform the precise cutting, coring, wall sawing, scanning and removal that most builders and demolition firms do not handle in-house.

We are a concrete cutting, coring, removal and scanning specialist — not a cast-in-place or forming contractor. We do not place or form your structure. Instead, we slot into your existing construction team to handle the controlled, high-skill concrete tasks: cutting clean openings, drilling penetrations, scanning before anyone cuts, and removing and clearing concrete so your placing contractor can place new concrete on a prepared base.

Scan before you cut — every time

On a live concrete construction site, cutting blind into a structural slab or wall is a safety and schedule risk. Scan-before-cut is our standard practice. Before we core or saw, our GPR / NDT concrete scanning crews locate rebar, post-tension cables, conduits and voids, then issue a detailed report so your team can cut with confidence. For congested or high-stakes areas we also offer concrete x-ray imaging and utility locating to map what is below grade before excavation or drilling begins.

• Diesel slab sawing — fast, high-output cutting for well-ventilated and outdoor construction sites.
• Electric slab sawing — low-emission cutting for occupied, indoor and active construction zones such as food-processing plants, warehouses and production floors, where air quality and ESG matter.
• Core drilling — clean concrete coring for electrical, plumbing, HVAC and sprinkler-fitter penetrations through floors and walls.

Removal, demolition and site clearing

Once concrete is cut, it has to go. We handle concrete removal and excavation, selective and structural concrete demolition, and on-site concrete crushing and recycling to reduce haul-off and disposal costs. When a slab or section needs replacing, we remove the existing concrete and prepare and clear the way — the new concrete is placed by your project’s concrete-placing contractor, not by us.

Does CDS place or form new structural concrete?

No. CDS is a concrete cutting, coring, removal and scanning specialist, not a cast-in-place or forming contractor. We open, modify, scan, remove and clear existing concrete on a construction project. When a slab needs replacing, we remove the old concrete and prepare the area, and the new concrete is placed by your project’s concrete-placing contractor.

Why do you scan concrete before cutting?

Scan-before-cut is our standard practice. Before coring or sawing, our GPR / NDT scanning crews locate rebar, post-tension cables, conduits and voids and issue a detailed report. This protects embedded utilities and structural elements and lets your team cut with confidence on a live construction site.
